Dear Prayers partners and Brethren,

Warm greetings from Cup of Cool Water-Burundi.

Reconciliation

The members of Burundi Forum for healing wounds of ethnic conflicts and reconciliation met under CCW umbrella for a- two- prayer on 12-13 October 2012 in Gitega province. One of the outcomes is to organize a national open day this November to share with others about our ministry: achievements, difficulties, strategies, priorities and needs.

Cup of Cool Water was privileged to welcome in our office  Sergej             Photo 1

and Hilaire from Word-of-peace Germany last month. They were in

Missionary journey to Burundi from 27 September to 14October 2012.

Charles had an opportunity to interpret for Sergej when he preached

to street children on 11October 2012.

Inspired from Deut. 10: 19 and James 1: 27 in regard with caring

love for others especially aliens, orphans and widows through works

of faith, they shared with Sunday school kids about what  will happen

when Jesus comes back. “The Lord Jesus is in Heaven now. Young or      Photo 2

old, we are His fellow-workers. We are all called to do something

for Him. One day He will come back on earth and ask each one of us:

‘What have you done for me’? Jesus, our Lord and Savior, would like

everybody to be happy and joyful. Thus, we have to love others and

make them happy. We are not supposed to please our fathers and

mothers only, but to all people. Jesus said that we should open our

door when the poor visit us at home and manifest love to him. If you

do so, you are His faithful co-worker. Then, He will be happy with you

because you gave something to the poor generously. Have you ever          Photo 3

assisted a poor? Do you not worry; Lord Jesus will come back to take

us to His Father’s home that has many rooms.”(John 14:1-3).

The Good news for reconciliation that they shared with  Street children (cf. Sergej on Photo 2) and with

various and different congregations (cf. Hilaire on Photo1) around Burundi was accompanied by intercession, home visiting programmes(cf. Hilaire and Sergej fellowshipping with impoverished family in a

thatched and muddy  house on photo 3 )and material assistance (cf. Copy books, pens, Soap, Clothes, drinks. Food...on photo1).

The gift of foot ball from Torunn and Caring for hopeless children

The message of love for others was appropriate as a number of children are facing problems today as a consequence to the civil war of 1993 that lasted for about fifteen years in Burundi. Orphans are estimated at 823,000. Life becomes tough and they have to struggle to find food, clothes, shelter, health care and protection to survive (The world Factbook, 2009).  IRIN, tells us that around 7.000 of them were recorded as child soldiers in 2005. State, reports 230 thousand orphans being HIV/AIDS positive. Starving of hunger, they end up in banditry and live in dependency which is a threat to the public security. `Illiteracy is another issue. Consequently, 640,000 children had been forced to work`[1]. They are longing for someone who can care for them to heal from inner wounds inflicted to them through loss of beloved ones, horrific bloody memories, diseases and hatred. They are in need of a special care to grow up within an atmosphere of hope, love and mutual trust without haterage and suscipission to experience and enjoy God’s intended life here and now.  Thus, Cup of Cool Water occasionally brings his wee contribution to improve their situation by providing them with clothes, medication, school material and other commodities thanks to your donations. The gift of the football helped us to gather them in two football teams for them to play and pray together for their health and good relationships.

*      Please remember to include Charles and his friends from Burundi and DRC in your prayers as they are attending a Forum on Reconciliation on 4- 10 November 2012 in Kigali

*      Pray for us as we are longing for a land where CCW can build a Community development centre and headquarters as we do not have yet an office and work in a very tide and uncomfortable residence.

*      We plan to continue assisting the impoverished as the Lord provides

Our sincere gratitude to everybody for your prayers and your support which are keys for effectiveness and success of our ministry. May God bless you all!
